What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Domantay and Melissa Guirit conducted a Prelicensing inspection today, December 29, 2021 for a change of location. LPAs met with Director, Heather Posner and toured all areas of the facility for a health and safety inspection. The preschool will operate in two portable classrooms. There is also an art room that is located inside the staff office. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00pm. The measurements are as follows: INDOORS: 1,780 = 50 children OUTDOORS: 4,058.24 = 60 children A fire clearance, with a total capacity of 24 was received on 12/29/21 from the Crockett Carquinez Fire Department. LPAs observed that the classrooms has sufficient lighting and appears to be clean and in good condition. LPAs observed an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment and furniture. The facility has a 5 sinks and 7 toilets for children use. The classrooms have a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, and first aid supplies. There is a working telephone at the center. LPAs did not observe any hazardous items that would be accessible to children. Children will be bringing their own lunches and water bottles from home and will have access to water indoors and outdoors. Facility will only be providing snacks. The staff office and designated child bathroom within the office will be used for ill children as the isolation area. LPAs observed outdoor play areas, they are fully fenced and have ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, and furniture. Director will need to put fencing along the right side of the basketball court to ensure children do not have access to the ramp area located on the right side. Director will provide picture proof via email. LPAs observed ample amount of shade for children. Director, Heather Posner will be considered a qualified preschool director. If this facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm . Mandated reporter and appeal rights, civil penalties, unusual incident reporting and fingerprint requirements were discussed today. LPA will email COVID-19 Self-Assessment Guide and Applicant submit to LPA once completed.\302\240LPAs reviewed responses and provided technical assistance including postings. Licensee is also being informed of the web address ( www.ccld.ca.gov ) for downloading child care forms, and the director is encouraged to email ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list. The director is also reminded that mandated reporter training is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years at www.mandatedreporterca.com . The facility is licensed for a total capacity of 24 preschoolers today, 12/30/21. A copy of this report was provided and exit interview conducted with Director Heather Posner.
