What the inspector wrote

Today, February 24, 2026 at approximately 2:30PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Paulita De La Cruz, met with the licensee, Maria Barojas-Amezcua, for the purpose of conducting an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. Present during this visit were 6 children (no infants), the licensee's adult daughter and mother. All adults living in the home are fingerprint cleared. The facility operates Monday thru Friday, 7:45AM-5:30PM. A health and safety tour of the home was conducted inside and outside. This is a one-level in-law suite located separately from the main home, with 1 bathroom, a closet, main day care room and an additional sink in the main day care room. Isolation area is located opposite end of the sink area. There are age appropriate equipment and toys/materials available for children inside and outside. The home is equipped with a 3A40BC fire extinguisher and a functioning combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector. There are no firearms in the home, per the licensee. There are no bodies of water present inside and outside of the home. The outside play area is fenced in all around. The licensee has current pediatric CPR/First Aid valid until 9/2027. The licensee is scheduled to renew her Mandated Reporter Training on March 6, 2026; proof of registration was reviewed during this visit and a copy of the registration was emailed to LPA. The facility has a combination heater/AC unit mounted high on the wall. On-limit-areas include: All areas except the closet. There are no hazardous cleaning chemicals and/or objects accessible to the children in the on-limit areas. Off-limit-areas include: The closet. The licensee is maintaining an infant sleep plan and log for all infants in care. An emergency drill is being conducted on a monthly basis and a log is being maintained. A facility roster is also being maintained. All licensing required documents are posted and readily available for public review. Children's records (5) and staff records (2) were reviewed. All files were found to be complete. Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. The facility currently do not have children in care needing Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. For IMS information, see PIN 22-02-CCP. A Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the applicant and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed applicant of the importance of checking for and removing recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. On this date, 2/24/2026, the California Attorney General - Megan\342\200\231s Law website was searched for information on sex offenders required to register with local law enforcement under California's Megan's Law. No registered sex offenders were found at the facility address. Under state law, some registered sex offenders are not subject to public disclosure; therefore, they may not have been included in this search. However, the Department conducts a monthly cross reference of each address on record for all registered sex offenders against all CCLD facility addresses pursuant to information shared by California DOJ. The was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters, and other important information communication platforms.
