What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Domantay and Nyeesha Blount conducted an unannounced random annual site inspection for this facility at 10:20AM. LPAs met with licensee, Sofia Cabrera Balmori, and toured all areas of the facility on limits for children in care for a health and safety inspection. Also present at the time of LPA's arrival were 4 children in care consisting of 1 infant and 3 preschoolers. The On Limits areas of the home for children in care is the back family room. All other areas of home is off limits to children. Off limit areas are made inaccessible for children via child safety gating, closed doors and visual supervision. There are no hazardous items/toxins observed to be accessible to children. Furnishings and equipment, including infant sleeping equipment, are age appropriate and free of observed sharp/broken pieces. Per licensee there are no firearms stored or present on the premises. Isolation area will be in the back of day care area by the couch. There is a working smoke detector, working carbon monoxide detector and fully charged fire extinguisher. The outdoor play area is fully fenced and available to children in care and is padded with turf to cushion a fall. There are no hazardous conditions observed in the outdoor play area. There are no pools, hot tubs or accessible bodies of water present. LPAs reviewed the facility's parent board located inside on the wall of the daycare area. Licensees CPR/First Aid is up to date, expires 10/2022 and mandated reporter training is up to date, expires 1/2023. The attached Type A and Type B deficiencies are cited today and must be corrected by the due dates. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee was reminded about importance to stay in compliance with mandated reporter training and maintenance of sleep logs for all infants in care. In the areas that were evaluated, no regulatory violations were observed . A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS GIVEN AND MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Sofia Cabrera Balmori.
