What the inspector wrote

On 10/3/2025 at approximately 12:00PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jamel Maiwandi met with Licensee Maritza Orellana Fuentes for an unannounced annual inspection. Present during today\342\200\231s inspection were the licensee, 2 assistants, and 9 children. The licensee and both assistants are fingerprint cleared. Hours of operation are from 6:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday, and Saturday 8:00am-4:00pm. This is a one-story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen/dining area, living room, daycare room, attached garage that is converted into laundry room and storage, and the backyard with shed on left side of the home. On limit areas include: the kitchen, daycare room, living room, backyard, bathroom 1 and bathroom 2, and room 2. Daycare room is in the rear room of the home and living room is in the front. Kitchen is located between the two spaces. Off limit areas include: Room 1, Room 3, Room 4, and garage. Licensee has a latch at the top of the garage door where Room 3 and laundry room is located making it inaccessible to children, All off-limit areas have been made inaccessible by closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision . The Isolation area is located in the living room on the corner couch next to the windows and inaccessible to children in care. Continues on 809-C Page 2 Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort. There is fireplace located in the living room; however licensee stated it is not in use and has been made inaccessible to children in care. There are ample number of safe toys, play equipment, and materials observed for children. There is a working telephone in the home. LPA verified all poisons, cleaning solutions, medications, and other items that pose a danger to children are locked and inaccessible to children. The licensee was reminded that all cleanings compounds, medications, and poisons must be in a locked cabinet/drawer or placed out of reach of children. Knives and kitchen utensils were kept in a locked storage cabinet. The home is equipped with a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke and carbon monoxide detector. There is a fully stocked first aid kit located in the home. Licensee states there are no firearms on the premises. There are no pools, spas, hot tubs, fishponds or similar bodies of water. The licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills twice a year with the last one conducted on 06/23/2025. Licensee\342\200\231s CPR and First Aid certificates are current and expire on 03/2026. Licensee has current mandated reporter training which expires on 11/7/2026. The Licensee was reminded of the responsibility as a mandated reporter. LPA reviewed 3 staff files and 5 children\342\200\231s files at 12:30pm and obtained a current facility roster. The licensee is in compliance with the immunization law. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Continues on 809-C Page 3 LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPAs also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensees were informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee Maritza Orellana confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
