What the inspector wrote

On 08/22/2024 at 12:30 PM, Licensing Program Analyst(s) Christina Watts and Joe Mary "Jory" Vargas conducted a Case Management Inspection - Licensee Initiated. Licensee requested to place her Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) as an on limit area. LPAs met with licensee, Susan Bonin and explained the purpose of this visit. During today's inspection, there were no children in care and licensee stated there were 21 children enrolled. Licensee stated she is currently on a summer break. Licensee and landscaper were the only individuals that were present during inspection. Licensee and all adults living in the home have Criminal Record Clearance. Facility is a part day facility with an Morning group (AM) and the Afternoon Group (PM). Facility hours of operations are Monday - Friday from 8:15 AM - 2:45 PM. Licensee states she cares for children ages 3-7 years old. Facility uses the left side of the backyard as the entrance and exit for facility. This is a one story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, kitchen dining room, formal dining room, living room, office, attached garage, backyard with an swimming pool, 2 locked sheds, outdoor furniture set, a play house, a secured deck for children, garden, and Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU). The children on limits areas: Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) and backyard Areas off limits include: Entire Home, 2 locked sheds on the right hand side of backyard, and swimming pool. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit. Licensee has an up to code 2A10BC fire extinguisher and working smoke/carbon monoxide detector on the premises. LPA inspected the backyard and observed a fully fenced and safe backyard for children in care. LPA observed an swimming pool that is covered and can hold the weight of an adult. The Swimming pool is in compliance with California Code of Regulations, Title 22. LPA observed a play house for children as well as age appropriate toys for children to play with. LPA discussed with licensee that supervision is required when children are playing in the backyard due to swimming pool in the middle of the home. *CON'T ON PAGE 2* *PAGE 2* Licensee was reminded that all adults ,18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. AS OF 08/22/2024, ADU IS PLACED ON LIMITS AND CAN BE USE FOR CARE AND SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN. THE ENTIRE HOME IS NOW PLACED OFF LIMITS. LICENSEE CANNOT CARE AND SUPERVISE CHILDREN INSIDE THE HOME. If licensee wanted to add their home as an on limit area, an request to licensing is required and licensing has to approve area prior to usage. During today's visit, there were no violations observed. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Susan Bonin. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 consecutive days.
