What the inspector wrote

Centralized Application Bureau (CAB) Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) M. Domantay and Christina Watts met with Applicant Kirkland Smith for the purpose of a pre-licensing inspection to measure the outdoor play yard. All renovations of play yard has been completed. Applicant requests a single licensed child care center for a Preschool program ages 2 years to first grade entry license to serve a total of 29 children. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The fire clearance was granted and received on 2/14/2024 from the Contra Costa Fire Protection Department with occupancy code I-4. OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: There is 1 outdoor area on the property, Playground 1. The outdoor play areas are fenced wrought iron fencing that is at least four feet tall. LPAs observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys. There is a play structure present in the outdoor play yard area. Play area and Play structure are filled with tan bark and turf as cushioning to cushion a child's fall. There are no bodies of water on the premises. There is sufficient outdoor shading provided by canopies. LPAs observed barriers between parking lot area and surrounding modular has been installed to secure walk way/entrance to outdoor preschool play yard. LPA measured the outdoor activity space. The outdoor play area contains a total of 2,284.31 square feet, which will accommodate Applicant's request for 29 preschool children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. Page 1 A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
