Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Staff stated if a child is not hungry during lunch, they are encouraged to eat, but never forced to do so, and they are re-offered their food later. Staff stated if a child is not hungry during lunch, this information is shared with the child\342\200\231s representative via a daily note or during pick up at the end of the day. Staff stated children are offered food throughout the day, during morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and late afternoon snack. Staff stated parents bring a pre-filled water bottle each day that is labeled with their child\342\200\231s name. Staff stated children are offered water throughout the day and staff refill the water on a regular basis. Staff stated when they take the children outside, the teachers help the children put on their jackets when it is cold, encourage them to keep them on, and help them take it off when it is warm. Staff stated it is part of their curriculum to also teach children how to take their jackets on and off to promote independence. In conducting the investigation for these allegations, LPA conducted two unannounced inspections and observed that the facility was operating within required ratios during each visit. LPA observed that there were filled water cups that were separately labeled with each child\342\200\231s name. Parents interviewed stated they are happy with the care that their children receive, they do not have any concerns about how much that their children eat or drink, and believes their children are well looked after during their time in care. Parents stated the teachers are attentive to their children and there are no concerns about teachers helping their children. Due to conflicting information obtained through interviews and observations, LPA was unable to determine if a violation occurred. Based on the investigation conducted, although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violations occurred. As a result, the allegations are UNSUBSTANTIATED. Report reviewed with Director and copies were provided. Notice of Site Visit was issued and Director understands that it must remain posted for 30 days. Appeal Rights were also provided and discussed.
