What the inspector wrote

On 08/04/2021, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Rene Mancinas and Juvenal Moctezuma conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Site Supervisor, Rubisela Sanchez. The facility is located on the State Center Community College District (SCCD) Reedley Campus at 995 N Reed Ave, Reedley, CA 93654. The reason for inspection was to inspect the preschool facility (1 portable classroom), which was physically moved 500 feet to the west due to future plans of installing a permanent building for preschool use. Facility has a licensing capacity of 25 preschool children. This program will operate on a school-year schedule: Monday through Thursday: 08:00am to 04:00pm and Friday: 08:00am to 12:00pm. Parents are to provide meals for children. Facility provides snacks. Meals/Snacks will be served in the classroom for consumption. Facility has a kitchen area that will be used to prep snacks. Kitchen area has a lock, so it is inaccessible to children. There is hot running water in the kitchen. Sharp utensils are stored up high in a cabinet. Cleaning items are stored in areas inaccessible to children. Staff will utilize designated bathroom located inside classroom, which is separate from restrooms utilized by children. Ill children are to be isolated in the site supervisor\342\200\231s office. LPAs observed that the furniture and equipment inside the classrooms appeared to be safe and in good condition. The classroom was observed to be clean and free of toxins. Medications are to be stored in areas inaccessible when present at the facility. There is at least one working carbon monoxide in the center. Report Continued Onto LIC 809-C Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Rubisela. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 901 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 25 preschool children. LPAs observed plenty of age appropriate toys and will submit proof of additional tables, chairs, & cots. There are a total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks/hand washing fixtures available for the preschool children. The approximate outside square footage for the preschool area was measured and is approximately 1,878 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity. LPAs observed a small tree and grass area. Rubisela stated that they will get a shade structure. A fire clearance for licensed capacity was received and granted by the Reedley Fire Department on 07/19/2021. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Inside Day-care: \302\267 Get 2 additional tables and 9 chairs to meet requested capacity of 25 . Anchor cubbies to the wall to prevent potential injuries . Replace window screen on north-side window . Submit proof of toilet caps to cover screws on bottom of toilet sides . Fix one sink in children\342\200\231s restroom . Submit proof of water being readily available to children (e.g. igloos/containers) . Submit proof of 5 more additional cots to meet requested capacity of 25 Report Continued Onto LIC 809-C Outside Daycare: \302\267 Trim tree branches so it does not impeded visual supervision \302\267 Shave thread bolts around fence to recommended size of 3-4 threads to prevent potential injuries . Submit proof of shade structure Pending a final file review and completion of above items, a recommendation will be made to license the above facility for a capacity of 25 preschool children.
