What the inspector wrote

On 9/8/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Teacher/Director, Lisa Garcia. LPA toured the inside of the facility. The licensee is Clovis Unified School District and they are requesting a capacity decrease from 53 preschool children to 23 preschool children. The preschool program is located on the campus of Miramonte Elementary School and operates in classroom P5. This program currently operates two half day sessions Monday \342\200\223 Friday on a traditional school year schedule. AM session is 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. PM session is from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Facility offers breakfast for the AM session and lunch for the PM session. Food is prepared at the Miramonte Elementary School Cafeteria. Ill children will be isolated in the library area of the classroom and will utilize the bathroom in the nurse\342\200\231s office in the administration building. Cleaning supplies are kept in locked storage closets which are inaccessible to children. The classroom was observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in the classroom appeared to be safe and in good condition. The classroom has a working carbon monoxide detector in the classroom. LPA observed that there are plenty of tables and chairs. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys. Room measurements in classroom was taken and reviewed with Director. The total inside preschool area of the classroom measured to an approximate 742 square feet which will only accommodate a capacity of 21 preschool children. Licensee has been informed will be submitting an updated application to be licensed for 21 preschool children. There are a total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the newly requested capacity of 21 preschool children. Facility uses a water service to provide drinking water for both indoor and outdoor activities. Children bring water bottles from home to fill with water. Facility also has paper cups from a cup dispenser in case a child forgets their bottle at home. The outdoor activity area was not measured as there have been no changes to the preschool children\342\200\231s outdoor area. LPA reminded Director to make sure they maintain visual supervision of children at all times. A fire clearance for the above classroom for 23 preschool children was received and granted by the City of Clovis Fire Department on 8/10/23. An updated fire clearance for 21 preschool children will be needed. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C The following items must be completed prior to issuing an updated license for 21 preschool children. Inside Daycare: 1) Licensee to submit an updated application for 21 preschool children. 2) Obtain an additional cubby to meet their newly requested capacity of 21 preschool children. 3) Install door alarms on each door. 4) Cap exposed toilet bolts on each toilet. Pending a final file review and completion of the above items, a recommendation will be made to license the above classroom for a capacity of 21 preschool children. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Teacher/Director, Lisa Garcia. A copy of this report is to remain in the facility for public review. A notice of site visit was given to Director and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
