What the inspector wrote

On May 6, 2022, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) C Brannon and J Yanez conducted an unannounced case management inspection and met with Associate Teacher, Baylee Malcolm. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The center is located at address, Pine Ridge Elementary School. This inspection was conducted due to change in preschool rooms. This is a licensed facility and licensee; Pine Ridge Elementary School District is requesting a capacity of 24 preschool children. This facility follows the traditional school year. This facility hours of operation: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. LPA reminded staff that the Public Health Department and CDC strongly recommends for staff and children to wear face masks. Associate teacher stated that parents provide snacks for the children in care. The classroom was observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. There are enough tables, chairs and plenty of toys for children to play. LPA reviewed with Associate Teacher, Baylee Malcolm, that any future changes to the classroom are required to ensure that furniture does not tip over on to children, the furniture are to be anchored or situated that tipping does not occur. Classroom changes of furniture shall be situated that 100% visual supervision is always provided to children in care. Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Associate Teacher, Baylee Malcolm. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 848 square feet which will only accommodate the requested capacity of 24 preschool children at a time. CONTINUED ON FOLLOWING PAGE There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings in the classroom. Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate. There is a total of 1 toilet and 1 sink fixture in the restroom. There is a bathroom waiver in file. The preschool children will use the restroom in the classroom and the school age restroom, with conditions stated on the waiver. The approximate outside square footage for the preschool area has adequate space for the requested capacity of 24 Preschool Children. The preschool play area is gated all around and will be shared through staggered times with the school age children. There is waiver for shared outside play yard. LPA observed age appropriate toys, slide, and swings. Applicant is using wood chip to cushion fall zones. Licensee is using mature trees for shade. A fire clearance of 24 preschool children was approved and granted by Fresno County Fire Department on 4/29/22 This facility does provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Sick preschool children are to use the staff bathroom. Children are to be provided 100% supervision at all times, including when in the restroom. A recommendation will be made to grant the requested capacity of 24 preschool children. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Associate Teacher, Baylee Malcolm.
