What the inspector wrote

On 2/19/2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brandon Tate conducted a Random Required 3-year inspection for the preschool license. Upon arrival, LPA Tate was met by Director Maria Meraz. Also present was staff #1. LPA Tate introduced himself and explained the reason for today\342\200\231s visit. The licensed facility was inspected inside and outside. Guardian background clearances were verified and discussed with Director Meraz. Record review showed a current fire clearance. A census was taken of 12 children present. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 0930 to 1230 and 1330 to 1530 hours in the months of October to May. LPA Tate then inspected the licensed facility\342\200\231s indoor activity space. LPA Tate observed age-appropriate toys for children in care. The facility was maintained to regulatory standard cleanliness and LPA Tate did not observe any hazards or sharp objects that could potentially harm children in care. There was a functioning carbon monoxide alarm and fire extinguisher within the indoor activity space. Electrical outlets were observed to have plastic covers. LPA Tate observed drinking water accessible to children and record review showed that lead testing has been conducted for the licensed facility. LPA Tate inspected the restroom and observed the restroom to be clean and sanitized. There was functioning sinks and toilets within that were temperature compliant with California Code of Regulations. LPA Tate observed sufficient toilet and sink ratio for children in care. LPA Tate did not observe any hazards that could potentially harm children in care. The outdoor activity area was inspected by LPA Tate and age-appropriate play structures were observed during today\342\200\231s inspection. The outdoor play area was fenced and at least 4 feet in height. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. Play structures were free from rust and debris. There were no sharp or protruding objects observed. All play equipment was functional. The outdoor play area had soft material throughout that was maintained to regulatory standard. The kitchen area was maintained to regulatory standard and free of any pests or rodents. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous items are made inaccessible to children in care by being placed within a locked cabinet in the kitchen area. The kitchen is always kept locked during operating hours. A current menu for the month is posted and in writing. The licensed facility provides snacks only and all food is maintained sanitary. Any expired food is thrown away within a sealed container and disposed of immediately. All trash cans were observed to have tight fitting garbage bags free of flies, mold, or any pests. A thorough file review was conducted on staff and children\342\200\231s files. LPA Tate reviewed a sample of children\342\200\231s files, and they were complete with necessary emergency contact information and all required forms were present and complete. LPA Tate conducted a file review for staff and observed all training to be current. All staff files were complete with necessary forms and signed appropriately. Director Meraz was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited. Appeal rights were given. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director Maria Meraz.
