What the inspector wrote

On 11/22/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nohemi Sanchez and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Luisa Gavoutian conducted an unannounced case management inspection and met with Director, Martha Jimenez. LPA and LPM toured the inside and outside of the facility and a census was taken. The purpose of the inspection was to remeasure the preschool indoor and outdoor space to ensure it meets licensed capacity. Facility will continue to operate in Classrooms Blue, Red, Green, yellow, and Orange, which are separated by Childrens\342\200\231 small storage mobile units. This program currently operates year-round and schedule is, Monday \342\200\223 Friday from 5:30 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. Facility does close during major holidays. Facility provides breakfast and lunch. Food is prepared off the premises. Staff will utilize the bathrooms designated for staff located in the front main office. Ill children will utilize the staff bathroom in each classroom and be isolated in the corner of each classroom. Cleaning supplies are stored in cabinets which are inaccessible to children. The classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA and LPM observed that the furniture and equipment in the classrooms appeared to be safe and in good condition. LPA and LPM observed that there are plenty of tables, chairs, and cubbies. LPAs observed plenty of age-appropriate items & toys. Licensee has made some structural changes to the preschool room and separated a large area with a newly constructed wall with the intent to license that area for an infant program, thereby reducing the total available space for preschool. Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Director. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 3,072.46 square feet which does not accommodate the licensed capacity of 145 preschool children. Total square footage only supports a maximum of 87 children. There are a total of 11 toilets and 13 sinks/hand washing fixtures which accommodates 165 preschool children. LPA observed drinking fountains in each classroom and drinking fountains in the outdoor activity area. Continued on LIC 809-C. Licensee has also made some changes to the outdoor play area. A portion of the outdoor play area has been sectioned off with a wrought iron gate to be used by the infant program when licensed. Preschool outdoor play area measurements were taken and reviewed with Director. The total outdoor area measured an approximate 15972.57 square feet which accommodates the licensed capacity of 145 preschool children. The preschool play area is gated all around and is shared with all the classrooms children. LPA and LPM observed age-appropriate toys and equipment. One high climbing play equipment was observed. Facility is utilizing poured rubber for cushioning under high climbing equipment. LPA and LPM reminded Director that the large sand area should be raked daily prior to children utilizing the outdoor play area. LPA and LPM reminded Director, Martha Jimenez to always provide adequate supervision. Due to the structural changes made to the preschool facility and measurements taken during today\342\200\231s inspection, the available space does not support the licensed capacity of 145 children. Licensee was advised that a decrease in capacity application must be submitted to the Department within 30 days. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Martha Jimenez. A notice of site visit was given to Director and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
