What the inspector wrote

On 04/19/2024, Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Cynthia Brannon and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Aurelio Mendoza conducted an unannounced case management inspection. LPM Cynthia Brannon and LPA Aurelio Mendoza met with Director Sabrina Corral, toured the facility, and took a census. The purpose of today\342\200\231s inspection was to discuss an incident that was reported to Child Care Licensing Division (CCLD) on 03/19/2024. Director Colleen Mackay stated that on 03/18/2024 at approximately 4:30 PM, Child 1 was in the outdoor playground running and not looking when he suddenly ran over a bike and toppled over resulting in Child 1 hitting his forehead on the ground. Director Colleen Mackay witnessed the incident while performing rounds and routine supervision at the facility and promptly administered first aid. Child 1\342\200\231s parent arrived at pickup time shortly after the injury where the parent was informed of the recent situation and updated that the child had been provided an ice pack; applied to a bump on the upper right side of the child\342\200\231s head. Director Colleen Mackay stated that Child 1\342\200\231s parent decided to take the child to be seen by a care professional at a local hospital after leaving daycare facility. Child 1 was cleared by care professional and directed the parent that Child 1 could return to care without delay and Child 1 returned to daycare facility on 03/22/2024. LPA Aurelio Mendoza discussed supervision at the time of the incident, and it was determined that appropriate supervision was in place. There were 45 children present with four qualified teachers plus Director Colleen Mackay outside at the time of the incident. During today\342\200\231s visit LPA Aurelio Mendoza interviewed staff, reviewed records, and made observations that yielded evidence that this was an isolated incident, and that staff took appropriate measures to address the child\342\200\231s injury while adhering to respective policies, regulations, and reporting requirements. No deficiencies cited during today\342\200\231s inspection. An exit interview conducted with Director Sabrina Corral. LIC 9213 Notice of Site Visit to be posted for 30 days. Copy of Appeal Rights was provided during today\342\200\231s visit.
