What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Laura Chavez conducted a case management inspection in response to an application submitted by the licensee requesting an increase in capacity, the requested capacity is 14. An approved Fire Inspection Safety Request was received on 3/9/2021. LPA met with Licensee Liliana Salgado on 3/18/2021 at 2:00pm. The inspection was conducted via tele-inspection due to the current State of Emergency caused by COVID-19. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary dated 3/9/2021 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Currently, six adults reside in the home. The licensee is not the the property owner. The Property Owner/Landlord Consent and Property Owner/Landlord Notification are on file. The licensee's CPR/First Aid expire 5/14/2021. The licensee's days and hours of operation are Monday-Friday; 7:00am-5:30pm. During today\342\200\231s inspection the home and grounds were toured. The floor and yard plan were reviewed. The home is a three bedroom, two bath home. Two bedrooms, master bathroom, kitchen and garage are off-limits to children. Gates at both entries to the kitchen have been installed to prevent children from accessing. Doorknob covers and chain door guards with slide bars have been installed to prevent children from accessing the two bedrooms, master bathroom and garage. A backboard has been installed in front of the fireplace and used to post art projects. The licensee understands that the fireplace shall be securely screened should it be used while children are in care. Sharps, cleaning supplies and chemicals, and medications are stored out of the reach of the children. Report continued: See LIC 809-C Poisons are locked in a cabinet located in the bathroom and iin a locked gated area in the back yard. There is a working combination smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. The licensee stated there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the home, and none were observed during today's inspection. The children use the backyard as the outdoor play area. The backyard is completely fenced. The weight plates on the weight bench and rack located on the back patio are locked in to prevent children from accessing. The swing/slide set located in the backyard is in good condition. There is no trampoline, pool, spa, pond, nor any other source of water accessible to the children, and none of these items are to be added without prior notification and approval of the licensing agency. This report was discussed with the licensee. All licensing reports are public information and must be made available upon request for at least three years. The facility is in substantial compliance with Title 22 regulations. The increase in capacity is thereby granted.
