Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 11/21/2024 at 3:30 PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Noah Wheeler and Kiriko Lynch conducted an unannounced complaint inspection and met with lead teacher Gillian Ryan. It was alleged that staff did not notify parents of a child's injury, specifically that a child fell on the wet gymnasium floor hit their head and the parent was not notified. It was also alleged that children left unattended, specifically that staff were not properly supervising and did not witness the injury. The Director was interviewed on 08/02/2024 and denied the allegations. She stated staff always inform parents of children’s injuries and staff make sure to double head count when coming inside from outside to make sure they have all of the children in care accounted for. Four staff (S1-S4) were interviewed on 10/29/2024. Staff stated that they make “ouchie” reports for parents and would inform the director and contact parents if needed. Staff stated children are always under staff observation and not left unattended. Three children (C1-C3) were interviewed on 10/29/2024 and they did not have any information regarding the allegation. Four parents (P1-P4) were interviewed on 11/20/2024. Parents stated that they have not witnessed any of the allegations, except for one parent that stated they have seen children in the gym during pickup while other children were outside with staff. During the complaint inspection visits, LPAs observed the facility staff were providing adequate care and supervision to children. Although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violations occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated. Exit interview conducted, notice of site visit posted, and appeal rights provided.
