What the inspector wrote

On 4/3/2023 at 10:25am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Vicky Williamson conducted an unannounced annual required inspection. LPA met with Site Supervisor Maria Escobedo and disclosed the purpose of the inspection. LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. Classroom A is in session Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 3:00pm. Classroom B is in session Tuesday through Friday, 7:30am - 11:00am (morning program) and 12:00pm - 3:30pm (afternoon program). The following ratios were observed: Classroom A had eight (8) children present with two (2) teachers. There were no children present in Classroom B. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment is in safe condition. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. High-climbing equipment has sufficient cushioning. Site Supervisor stated that the children are not currently using the playground due to additional playground equipment is being added. Toilet and hand-washing equipment are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Facility has a functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detector that meet statutory requirements. The last fire/disaster drill was conducted and documented on 3/8/2023. The facility provides breakfast, lunch and snack. Menus are posted monthly. A review of staff records on this date indicates facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Site Supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. Children are under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher at all times. At least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid is present when children are at the facility. The person who signs the child in/out of the facility shall use their full legal signature and record the time of day. LPA reviewed a sample of children\342\200\231s files and observed files were complete with contact information for authorized representative and or relatives or others who can assume responsibility for the child and medical assessment. LPA reviewed a sample of staff files and observed files were complete with health screening, immunization records. Facility staff had current documentation of completed mandated reporter training on file. Site Supervisor stated there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any bodies of water. Site Supervisor stated there are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other hazardous items are made inaccessible to children. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS, however site supervisor stated no children enrolled require medication at this time. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. LPA and site supervisor discussed the Community Care Licensing website www.ccld.ca.gov which will provide access to Provider Information Notices (PINs), Quarterly Updates, mandated reporter training, and California Megan\342\200\231s Law ( www.meganslaw.ca.gov ). No deficiencies cited during today's inspection. An exit interview was conducted with Site Supervisor Maria Escobedo, and a copy of this report, Appeal Rights and Notice of Site Visit were provided. Notice of Site Visit is required to be posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. LPA observed Notice of Site Visit posted on the board in classroom A. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided.
