What the inspector wrote

On 8/24/23 at 11:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility for the purpose of a pre-licensing inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Applicant, Leslie Valenzuela and was led on a tour the facility. Applicant is requesting a capacity of 45 preschool children (age 2 -Kindergarten). Applicant\342\200\231s planned hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7:30am - 5:30pm. The preschool rooms measured a total of 1172.36 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 33 children. Classrooms are equipped with age-appropriate furniture including mats for napping, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves and other materials for children. There are four (4) toilets and five (5) sinks available for use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Drinking water is available inside and outside via refillable water bottles brought from home. Applicant will provide filtered and bottled water. There is a separate restroom for staff located in Building A. The staff restroom and office will be utilized for isolation if a child becomes ill. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are kept inaccessible to children. Facility provides snacks and lunch. The facility will utilize the Brightwheel App for sign in/out. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector. There is a first aid kit available with required supplies. The outdoor activity space measured a total of 2542.55 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 33 children. Shade is provided by trees. LPA observed toys and materials available for outdoor play. High climbing equipment has wood chips to absorb falls; however, there are not sufficient wood chips. Applicant stated she will have sufficient wood chips placed in the outdoor space. Proper supervision and placement of staff outside was discussed to ensure the safety of children at all times. Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311A, Records to Be Maintained at the Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted and a CDPH286 form for immunization records. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP); LPA provided applicant with a copy of the PIN. LPA referred applicant to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing Information. Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A fire clearance for 45 preschool children (age 2 - Kindergarten) was granted 8/8/23. The following is required: \302\267 Sufficient wood chips added under the high climbing play equipment \302\267 Current mandated reporter certification for applicant Exit interview conducted with Applicant, Leslie Valenzuela. A license for 33 preschool children (age 2 - Kindergarten) may be granted after proof of the above requirements are submitted to the SDRO and a final file review
