On April 7, 2022, at 10:15 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Gloria Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensee, Melissa Gonzalez.\302\240LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee.\302\240 Four (4) daycare children and no staff were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a 2 story, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: Living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom #1, backyard.\302\240Off limits areas are all of upstairs, (bedrooms #2, #3, #4 and bathroom #2), and are inaccessible through use of door knob covers. The garage, storage, and laundry room were not made inaccessible. Hours of operation are: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements.\302\240 Hazardous items were not made inaccessible to children during the inspection. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available.\302\240 The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities at time of inspection.\302\240 The upstairs is not used and is gated off at the bottom of the stairway and the applicant understands the gate must be in place when children under five years are present during day care hours. No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances .\302\240 Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home.\302\240 A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee\342\200\231s First Aid and CPR certification expires on 2/2024 .\302\240 Licensee has required immunizations.\302\240 Licensee has not completed the Mandated Reporter Training. Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed.\302\240 The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 1/30/22. Licensee was advised if there is to be an infant in care, there is one crib or play yard for each infant who is unable to climb out of the crib or play yard. Cribs or play yards are free from all loose articles and objects. Licensee shall physically checks on sleeping infants up to 24 months of age every 15 minutes. An Individual Infant Sleeping Plan [LIC 9227 (3/20)] shall be maintained for each infant up to 12 months of age. Licensee places infants up to 12 months of age on their backs for sleeping. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA provided and discussed the following:\302\240 Report suspected child abuse and neglect, maintain children\342\200\231s records according to regulation, post all required forms.\302\240 Licensee was reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, exersaucers, bouncy seats, walkers, and jumpers and/or similar equipment are not allowed in daycare.\302\240 Licensee was also provided information regarding SIDS, Lead exposure and Shaken Baby Syndrome.\302\240 LPA and Licensee discussed California Megan's Law and LPA provided: www.meganslaw.ca.gov . LPA advised if there is an unusual incident to report to call Licensing within 24 hours and to follow up with an LIC624B within 7 days.
