What the inspector wrote

On 10/25/22, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Villa and Beneroso conducted a Case Management inspection in response to information received from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW). LPAs Villa and Beneroso met with the Gloria Llanes, site Supervisor, the purpose of the inspection was disclosed, and entry was granted. Upon arrival LPAs observed 24 children and 10 staff present today. During the inspection, LPAs Villa and Beneroso informed Site Supervisor Gloria Llanes, the results provided from SWRCB, indicated the facility had elevated levels of lead in the water in the kitchen sink, sample A. The Department was notified of the Action Level Exceedance (ALE), levels are at the Kitchen sink (Sample A) presented levels of 14.0 UG/L. The SWRCB report sample listed facility inspected and collected sample on 09/24/22. Results were provided to facility on 10/13/22 . Lab Project Number: 469807 LPAs observed the water outlet (Sample A) covered and placed as out of service with a sign. LPAs were informed the kitchen sink faucet was only used for washing dishes and that it has not being used even before getting tested for lead levels due to the facility having a dishwasher in the premises. LPAs Villa and Beneroso observed the kitchen faucet (Sample A) as being inaccessible to children. The sinks faucets is not utilized for food preparation and or drinking water. Site supervisor has notified all parents and LPAs observed a sign being posted by the facility's main entrance. According to the site supervisor, Sample A, kitchen sink faucet has not been used for a few months. Sample A was placed as out of service on 10/13/22 the day the results were obtained. Per site director, the water outlet will be evaluated by an specialist on 10/28/22. The outlet will be replaced by 11/01/22 and results will be provided once the facility retest the new outlet. Facility will retest water for lead and notify LPAs of results approximately on 11/25/22. Facility is aware the lead levels shall not exceed 5.00 UG/L An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report was provided along with a Notice of Site Visit and appeal rights to site supervisor Gloria Llanes.
