What Happened

Case management incident investigation for child exposure to dead bat during outdoor play on 09/25/2025. Child found bat in sandbox, immediately instructed to drop it, thoroughly washed hands. Assistant Director notified parent, contacted Health Department and Animal Control. Child received rabies vaccination as precaution. Bat too decomposed for testing. Investigation revealed daily pre-checks of outdoor activity areas not being conducted.
