What the inspector wrote

On 10/05/2023 an unannounced case management inspection for a capacity decrease of the preschool program and an addition of the toddler option program was conducted by LPA Nancy Her. LPA met with Preschool Director, Hilda Ramos. The facility is located at 650 N. Maple Avenue in Wasco, CA 93280. The licensee is requesting a capacity of 72 children for the preschool program and 16 toddler option children. This program will operate year-round, Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM to 05:30 PM. There will be two full day preschool classes, one half day preschool class, and one full day toddler option class. The half day class will operate from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Breakfast, lunch, and snack will be provided by the facility and prepared off site. There is a sink with hot water inside the kitchen, to use for food preparation. Ill children will use a designated restroom, and there is a separate isolation area for them near the office. Staff will use the bathroom in the hallway. Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Ms. Ramos. There are 3 classrooms that will be used by preschool children. The total inside preschool area is 2808 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity. There is one classroom that will be used for the toddler option program. The total inside toddler option classroom area is 936 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity. There is adequate storage space available and are age appropriate. Outdoor measurements were taken on this date and total 9,296 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity. Adequate shade is available in the outdoor activity area with trees, a building with an overhang, and a shade structure in the grass area. The licensee is using wood chips for cushioning under the outdoor climbing structure. Outdoor storage is available for toys and equipment, and toys and equipment are age appropriate. There are 12 toilets and 18 sinks/hand washing fixtures in the children's bathrooms which will accommodate the requested capacity. There is a drinking water fountain in each classroom and outside for children to use. The fire clearance was received on 09/15/2023 by Kern County Fire Prevention and approved for the requested capacity. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance with the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. LPA reviewed with Director Hilda Ramos, the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted. The following will need to be reviewed and processed before licensure: \302\267 Waiver for sharing of the outdoor play area between the toddler option program and the preschool program Pending a final file review, a recommendation will be made to license the above facility for the requested capacity of 72 preschool children and 16 toddler option children. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative Hilda Ramos. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
