Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On July 30, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Justeene Tamayo and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Mariela Ramon conducted a Plan of Correction inspection with Licensee Deanne Rennie to verify that the in-ground swimming pool and jacuzzi fencing complies with Title 22 regulations. Upon arrival, LPA and LPM noted that the licensee was caring for two infants and one preschool child. The licensee showed LPA and LPM the pool area, where they observed a wooden fence completely enclosing the in-ground pool and jacuzzi. The wooden gate door was 5 feet 4 inches high, with horizontal beams no wider than 4 inches. The gate swings away from the pool, and features a self-closing and self-latching device located no more than 6 inches from the top of the gate. Additionally, there is a touch screen code lock/alarm(camera) that detects any movement around the perimeter of the body of water that is located on top of the gate. On the left side of the fencing, facing the pool, the fence measured 5 feet 7 inches high. However, wooden planks at the bottom of the fence, which run horizontally, reduced the effective height to 4 feet 4 inches. This lower height could potentially aid children in climbing over the fence. The licensee stated that she will reduce the height of the wooden planks from 1 foot 2 inches to 6 inches to address this issue, and allow the fencing to measure at 5 feet in height. The licensee will send LPA Tamayo and LPM Ramon a photo of the adjusted planks once the modification is completed. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report was provided to licensee, along with a copy of her appeal rights and Notice of Site Visit.
