On 08/23/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Beneroso met with Licensee Maria Marin who guided analyst on a tour of the facility for a Capacity Increase Inspection and addition to the outdoor play area. Licensee is requesting an increase from 8 to 14. This is a one-story home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Per licensee, care is primarily in the living room and backyard. The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents/cleaning compounds, medication and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. LPA observed age-appropriate safe toys and napping equipment on the premises. Main Care Area: Per licensee main care is provided in the living room and starting today the backyard. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and furniture for the children. There are age-appropriate games and books on the premises. Per licensee, there is a designated area for ill/sick children in the living room. Children in cots and mats in the living room. LPA observed nap equipment to be properly stored. Children's bathroom: Children use the bathroom located in the hallway on the left-hand side. The bathroom was clean, sanitized, and in good repair. The bathroom was toured and inspected sink and toilet which is in operable condition. Kitchen/Dining Room: The kitchen does have a physical barrier. Sharp items are located in an upper cabinet. Per licensee, she does currently have a food program. Meals offered: Breakfast, AM snack Lunch, PM Snack and dinner. Backyard/Outdoor areas: The side yard is all fenced in with a wooden fence. The outdoor play area was inspected and was observed to be free of hazards, lose or sharp parts and tools. LPA observed appropriate and safe toys in the play area. Per licensee and LPA\342\200\231s observations, there are no pools or bodies of water in the premises. There are no pets in the home. Off-limits : Per licensee, the off-limit areas of the home include the 3 bedrooms and one bathroom and detached garage. Rooms and garage are made inaccessible a child safety door knob. Care and Supervision: Licensee is within the ratio for a small facility. The Licensee was reminded that supervision is always required for children in care. Fire/Health/Safety: T here is a cell phone kept charged and on the Licensee at all times. Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide were observed to be in operable conditions. The First Aid kit was observed to be complete with supplies including thermometer, tweezers, scissors, gauze, bandages, cleansing pad/solution, and a first aid manual. LPA observed a required fire extinguisher (3A40BC) reading in Green and currently serviced. Medications/ Hazardous Materials: Medications are stored in an upper cabinet. Cleaning compounds are stored in an upper cabinet in the kitchen. Made inaccessible by a child safety gate . There are no firearms in the home. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Megan\342\200\231s Law - On this date, 08/23/2024, the California Attorney General - Megan\342\200\231s Law website was searched for information on sex offenders required to register with local law enforcement under California's Megan's Law. No registered sex offenders were found at the facility addresses. Under state law, some registered sex offenders are not subject to public disclosure; therefore, they may not have been included in this search. However, the Department conducts a monthly cross reference of each address on record for all registered sex offenders against all CCLD facility addresses pursuant to information shared by California DOJ. MyChildCarePlan.org: Family Child Care Home Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Criminal Record Clearance: Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee Morales de Martinez and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. No deficiencies have been cited at this time. A notice of site visit was given to licensee and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Facility is ready for a capacity increase and to use the backyard for outdoor play time.
