What the inspector wrote

On 07/17/2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Isabel Ortega conducted a Case Management inspection- Licensee initiated. Licensee is requesting an increase of capacity from a Small Family Childcare home of 8 children to a Large Family Childcare Home with a capacity up to 14 children. LPA announced the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry by Licensee. A tour of the facility was completed. Upon arrival LPA observe two children in care and one staff providing care and supervision. Licensee was initially licensed on 04/16/2024 as a Small Family Childcare Home. The Fire Department has inspected the home and granted a fire clearance for 14 children on 6//11/2025. Family Childcare Home operates Monday through Saturday from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The facility provides breakfast, morning snack, lunch afternoon snack and dinner as needed for children enrolled. This is a two- story family home with 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, one restroom, an attached garage and a back yard. Main care is provided in the living room and dining room referred to as the child care play area and room #1 downstairs is utilized for napping and activities(updated facility sketch submitted). The off limits areas are the entire second floor, LPA observed a white iron child safety gate at the bottom of the stairs. The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. There are age-appropriate toys and equipment on the premises. Per licensee there are no bodies of water on the premises. LPA did not observe any bodies of water. Per licensee there are no weapons or firearms of any kind in the facility, nor did the LPA observe any weapons during inspection. LPA observed mats for children, a playpen, a crib and a changing table for infants.. The backyard is utilized by the children for outside play when weather permits(LPA observed back yard to have grass as a fall zone. The yard is fenced all around and enclosed. The outdoor play area was inspected and the back yard was observed to be free of hazards, loose and sharp parts. The facility\342\200\231s fire extinguisher (2A10BC) is reading in green Licensee has a smoke and carbon monoxide detector found them to be in operating condition. The Fire extinguisher serviced within a year, LPA observed a blue tag dated 3/24/2025. The facility annual fees are current receipt paid observed by LPA with date 1/31/2025. The parent board was reviewed and had all the required forms posted and accessible to parents. Licensee was reminded with a capacity increase a qualified assistant shall be present whenever more than 8 children are in care. Licensee was provided with a capacity and ratio handout pertaining to large Family Child Care Homes and the various age groups that can be under care at one given time. According to licensee there are currently there are no children enrolled with any food allergies or IMS plans. Licensee accepts children from ages 0 through 13 years of age. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report, appeal and notice of site visit was provided to Licensee on this day. All Licensing reports are recommended to be kept on file for a minimum of three years. The Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days.
