LPA Garcia toured the facility and took a census. The purpose of today’s inspection was to discuss an incident that was reported to Community Care Licensing (CCL) on December 12, 2023, pertaining to a small fire in one of the classrooms. This facility operates two half day programs Monday – Friday from 830 AM – 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. During this incident no children were present. Per interview and record review, on December 12, 2023, at approximately 12:40 PM in building (C), a black insulated facility food transportation bag used to transport meals was placed on or near the stove and caught on fire. Teacher lliana noticed smoke coming the kitchen area. Lliana then called out for help to teacher Veronica. Veronica grabbed the bag that was on fire and relocated it outside of the classroom. Veronica then returned to the bag and put out the active burning bag. The Fire Department , Campus Police and Maintenance departments were all contacted and arrived to respond to the fire. Director Joshua Allen of Maintenance Operations notice that the bag was still smoldering upon arrival and used a fire extinguisher on the bag to prevent it from becoming active once more.
