What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green conducted an unannounced required 1 year inspection. Licensing Staff met with Director, Marjorie Golden. Facility operation hours during the school year are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 pm. The facility also offers summer camp program that operates during June and July from 9:00 am \342\200\223 1:00 pm. This facility has two different buildings where care is provided. The first building is called the Seniors Building for the 4\342\200\2235-year-olds which consists of 3 classrooms. The second building is the Juniors Building for the 2\342\200\2234-year-olds which consists of 3 classrooms. The following was observed during this visit. At 11:40 AM, LPA was provided a tour of the facility. In the Junior Building side, Licensing staff observed a total of 33 children in the outdoor play area with 4 staff members. In the Senior Building side, Licensing staff observed a total of 26 children with 4 staff in classrooms. Teacher-child ratios were observed. All children were observed by licensing staff to be under visual supervision of a teacher at all times. Licensing staff observed the facility to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All indoor classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. There is drinking water accessible to the children in care via water pitchers and their personal sippy cups. At this time, the Director\342\200\231s office is used as an isolation area. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill and staff are ensuring that children with obvious symptoms of illness are not being accepted. Children are signed in by parents at the main entrance and escorted to their assigned classrooms by teachers\342\200\231 aides. Page 1 of 2 Parents provide lunches for their child. Facility provides AM and PM snacks. There is a kitchen on site located in the Senior Building. LPA observed the kitchen area to be made inaccessible to the children in care. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in an area inaccessible to children. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements. During this inspection, LPA observed the facility to have (2) separate yard for each building and an additional play area above the Juniors Building playground. Outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Areas around and/or under climbing equipment, swings and slides have cushioning material (sand) to absorb a fall. Staff Records were reviewed during this inspection. Children\342\200\231s Records were reviewed to ensure that Identification and Emergency form and a medical assessment are on file. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records.
