During the interviews, staff members stated that when all the children are asleep, teachers use the time to check their emails, manage Class Dojo, and prepare lesson plans. Staff also revealed that in some classes, there are either two teachers, a teacher with an assistant, or just one teacher supervising the napping children. Observations and interviews indicated that there are no cameras in the rooms. During the LPA`s visits, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) observed a teacher and a teacher’s assistant supervising 7 napping children. According to the sign-in sheets for preschool room #102, one teacher supervises the children for 30 minutes while the other staff member takes a lunch break. There is a small sofa in room #102 and the director stated that before COVID, a staff member used to nap in the room while another staff member supervised the children, but that staff member is no longer employed at the facility. During the interviews, there were no disclosures related to these allegations. Based on LPA`s observations, interviews, and records review, although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is unsubstantiated. The Notice of site visit , report and Appeal Rights were explained and provided to Facility Representative, Patricia Chambers on 08/01/2024. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) – must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100. Page 2 of 2 Per staff if they need to talk to the parent, they station next to the door inside of the room facing class to observe the assistant . Per assistants they are not left alone with the children without direct supervision . If the teacher needs to step outside , staff calls the office for the backup .Per parents they observed teacher present along with an aide . No disclosures were made by the children . Per Director , if teacher is absent or need to step out , staff need to notify office . If supervision was provided by the assistant only , it is because they did not notify the office .
