What the inspector wrote

On August 15, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susana Martinez conducted an unannounced Required-1 Year and increase of capacity inspection. LPA met with center director Lillian Dunwell and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Director provided LPA a tour of the facility inside and out. At the time of inspection there were 49 children in care and 10 staff at the time of the inspection. LPA observed required licensing documents mounted on the windows throughout the facility. Last fire drill was conducted on 7/20/2023. The center has five (5) classrooms available. LPA observed enough restrooms available for children to use. LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children. Each of the classrooms have age-appropriate toys and furniture readily accessible for children in care. The outdoor play area is shaded and has an ample amount of space for children to play. LPA observed the playground has age-appropriate toys and structures available for children to use. The facility has water available for children inside and out. Currently the facility provides morning and afternoon snacks. No bodies of water were observed at the time of inspection. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed 6 out of 6 children's files to be complete and current. Currently the facility has children that require Incidental Medical services (IMS). LPA observed medications locked and stored out of reach from children. LPA observed staff files to be complete and current. CPR current with an expiration date of 3/2025. Staff mandated reporter certification are all current. The center submitted an application for increase of capacity. The Los Angeles County Fire Department granted a fire clearance on 8/14/2023 for 75 children. Continued on 809-C This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection. The center meets Title 22 Division 12 requirements for 75 children. Increase of capacity will be effective today, 08/15/2023 for total capacity of 75 children. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with director Lillian Dunwell.
