Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 3/7/24 Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Evelyn Garcia and Barbara Beneroso, conducted a Case Management inspection in response to lead exceedance at the facility. Water lead testing results were received from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW) indicating exceedance in one water faucet. LPA Garcia disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry. LPAs toured the facility and observed the water faucet areas according to the facility sketch. Upon arrival, LPAs observed 06 children and 3 staff members providing care and supervision. During the inspection, LPA Garcia disclosed the lead results provided by SWRCB, indicating the facility had elevated levels of lead in Sample A in the kitchen. The water faucet sink (A) is not utilized for drinking or food preparation. On 12/07/22, the SWRCB collected water samples for lead testing. The facility's results reported with 87.5 reaching Action Level Exceedance (ALE). According to Staff interviews and observation water faucets and fixtures with lead exceedance was replaced in January of 2023. According to the site supervisor, children are provided with water that comes from a filtered water dispenser and food is prepared at the center, however filtered water from the water dispenser is used. The site supervisor states that the dispenser for food preparation has been utilized for over 5 years. LPAs observed the filtered water dispenser and filtered water faucet that was installed next to sink. The water faucet labeled (A) according to the facility sketch was identified as containing lead. According to staff the water faucet sink (A) located in the kitchen is only utilized for staff hand washing. The facility is utilizing an alternative sink for children\342\200\231s hand washing. There are no deficiencies that will be cited on this date. An exit interview was conducted, a copy of this report, appeal rights, and a Notice of Site Visit were provided to the facility on this day. This report shall be public record for three years and a Notice of Site Visit is to be posted for 30 days.
