What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Seung Lee conducted an unannounced required annual inspection. LPA confirmed during this visit that the facility provides services to military families. According to Director, Marcela Torres, facility currently has 1 child of military families enrolled at this time Maryvale also has an infant/toddler program which is licensed through the Department ( #1980096580). The preschool and infant programs do not have any shared areas . The facility was closed for children on this day due to a scheduled in person staff training day. Parents were notified of the closure in advanced by the facility. All areas of the facility used by children were inspected. LPA inspected areas according to the facility sketch on file. LPA observed that a total of 5 classrooms are used for care; Room #1 (Jelly Fish), Room #2 (Star Fish), Room #3 (Otters) and Room # 4 (Penguins) are located in 1 building. The 5th classroom Dolphin is located in a separate building with its own restrooms located down the hall. Restrooms are located between each preschool room. There is an additional restroom available for children to use. Children are signed in via a fingerprint scanning system. A back up sign in and sign out book is also available should there be a power outage. Furniture and equipment was inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings and cots and blankest are stored appropriately. The isolation restroom is located across the Director's office. General sanitation was observed. Availability of indoor drinking water was also observed (jugs and water cups available for children). The playground consists of a sandbox, mud kitchen, grass and hard yard areas. No hazards were observed. Per Director, all meals are prepared on site. The kitchen is located on the opposite side of the preschool. Kitchen observed to be clean and well staffed. Food and snack menu was reviewed for availability and appropriateness to children in care. Licensee offers breakfast, lunch and one snack. Menus observed to be posted along with all other posting requirements. Staff and Children's records were reviewed for completeness during the inspection. NO DEFICIENCIES CITED IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 22 CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS Exit interview conducted with Director Marcela Torres. Appeal Rights explained. The notice of site inspection must remain posted for 30 days during hours of operation. Failure to maintain posting during business hours will result in a civil penalty of $100.00 dollars.
