What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Bardo Baluyot conducted an unannounced Required Annual site inspection. Upon arrival, LPA conducted a COVID risk self-assessment and met with Site Director, Sonia Henein. Teacher Assistant, Erica Martinez was also present during the inspection. The program operates on the campus of Rowland Elementary School. Options Surround Care offers before and after school care from 6:30 AM - 9:45 AM and 1:15 PM - 6 PM. There were no children present during the inspection. The program uses one portable to house the children attending the after school program. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. The room is well ventilated via central air. Carpeting and flooring were observed to be clean. Availability of drinking water was also observed via water jugs with disposable cups. First Aid supplies are kept in a first aid kit container which is provided by the licensee. There is an adult restroom that ill children can use. Parents are contacted when children are ill. Cleaning solutions are stored in the staff restroom inside a locked cabinet. LPA observed a variety of games and other learning materials available for children. LPA advised that staff's personal belonging be removed from areas licensed for care. The outdoor play yard used is directly in front of the portable. The playground is completely fenced with a five foot chain linked fence. Children have access to the basketball courts. There is a play structure that is age appropriate and is surrounded by wood chips to absorb falls. Teachers take water jug with disposable cups when outdoors. Shade is provided via trees. Teacher-child ratios observed to be in compliance. Roster was available. An Emergency Disaster Drill log is posted and shows the last emergency drills were conducted on 10/19/22. Sign in and out sheets and procedures were reviewed. Children are signed in by parents or staff upon arrival. Children attending the elementary school are singed in by staff. PAGE 1 OF 3 Menus were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. The afternoon session is provided with one snack. Snacks are provided by Options Food Program which follow mandated Federal Food Guidelines. Meal menus, license, car seat law, parents' rights for centers, emergency disaster plan and all other posting requirements were observed. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS . An IMS plan has been submitted. Per Ms. Sonia, there are currently (0) children receiving IMS services. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. No children or staff files were reviewed during today's visit. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Site Director, Sonia Heinen A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
