What the inspector wrote

On 04/22/26, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kamile Martin conducted an unannounced annual inspection to the above facility. A risk assessment was conducted upon entry. LPA (s) met with Licensee Maricruz Hernandez who led LPA(s) on a tour of the facility. There was 1 child present. A current children’s roster was available for review. Licensee has 7 children enrolled. Present in the home during inspection was licensee. A copy of the entrance checklist was provided. This is a single-family home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, backyard, garage and front yard. The children use the bathroom in the hallway, living room, dining room/ play room , and backyard. All areas were inspected as noted in the facility sketch initially submitted. Per licensee children nap in the living room. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 3-bedroom, front yard,1 bathroom, garage and kitchen. LPA(s) did not observe any hazards that can harm the children in care. The LPA(s) toured all areas used by children during this visit. Hours of operation are Monday- Friday 6:00am-6:00pm. License does provide transportation. Licensee states she has no pets in the home and has 3 adults and 0 minors living in the home. All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Per Licensee there are NO firearms in the home. Bodies of water were not observed at this facility. The following was observed and reviewed during this inspection. Cleaning compounds, and medications were observed to be inaccessible to children. Per licensee, there are no poisons kept in the home. The restroom that children use was observed to be safe and sanitary. There is telephone service via landline. The home is observed to be clean and orderly with electric heat and window AC unit. A fireplace was observed in the home with a barricade. Per Licensee its not in use. Licensee provides Breakfast lunch and Pm snack. Licensee is not on the meal program. There are toys available for children. There are first aid supplies available. Per Licensee the ill isolation area is located in the living room. LPA()s observed the following required posted documentation in the main entry of the playroom: Facility License, (LIC) 9148- Earthquake Preparedness form, Publication (PUB) 394- Notification of Parent Rights, and the Car Seat PUB and Emergency Disaster plan LIC610. Emergency Drill log was not available during inspection deficiencies sited see d page LPA(s) observed a fire extinguisher. LPA(s) advised licensee that fire extinguisher needs to be serviced every year last inspection date 11/25. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. All homes shall conduct fire and disaster drills at least once every six months and document the date and time of each drill the last drill was not available for review and a deficiency will be cited for non compliance. See D page Smoking is prohibited in a licensed Family Childcare Home. Per Licensee, no one smokes in the home. Currently, children are using the back yard for outdoor play time . The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced. LPA(s) observed the outdoor yard to have appropriate toys and other materials for children to use . LPA did not observe objects that can pose danger to children in the outdoor yard. Children and Adults’ records were reviewed upon observation children #3,4,5, are missing LIC 613 A personal rights Form 613A will be emailed to licensee to provide to parents for signatures and placed in the children’s files. Chilldren #1,2, need proof of exemption of shots on file. Licensee ‘s CPR is current and expires 05/27. Licensee Mandated Reporter AB 1207 mandated reporter certificate is current but not available for review, Licensee will submit copy to LPA once she has access to the certificate. There are deficiency’s being cited during this visit See D page. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22- 02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA (s)discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA (s)also informed licensee of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Megan’s Law - During the exit interview, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience.
