Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 9/13/22, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Steven Tung conducted an unannounced Case Management visit regarding an outdoor yard renovation that was reported to the Department on 09/09/2022. Due to COVID-19 precautionary measures were taken, licensing staff present during inspection wore appropriate personal protective equipment. LPA met with Director Marcia Cagigas and Vice Director Jacqueline Zavala who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Census was taken. The facility is located in the A1 building on the East Los Angeles College (ELAC) campus and is requesting to renovate the 4 outdoor play yards (Yards A-D). The renovation is expected to last 1-2 months. The facility will be replacing the wooden play structures with developmentally-appropriate climbing structures/equipment. The facility will also be replacing the sand with foam-matting. The facility states that yard renovations will not be affecting the current square footage. During the renovation period, the facility will also temporarily combine the Orange and Yellow classes, the Blue and Green classes, and the Gold and Red classes (the Red class is a half-day class). The vacant classroom for each set of classrooms will be used to develop gross motor skills. The facility states that teacher-child ratios will be maintained. The facility will also temporarily increase the \342\200\234Daily Walks\342\200\235 to the ELAC campus from once a month to twice a week. The Women\342\200\231s Softball Field will be part of the walk and the facility states that the field and the building (E9) next to the field has bathroom facilities available for the children to use. All staff members from each class will be accompanying the children on the Daily Walks. Page 1 At this time, the facility was observed to be operating in compliance with Title 22 regulations.
