What the inspector wrote
On 07/25/25 at 8:57 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Diana Ortiz conducted an Unannounced Annual random inspection to the above facility. Upon arrival, LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and met with Licensee, Nancy Schreiber who guided the LPA on a tour of the facility. Adults in the home were discussed, and all have criminal record clearance. Also present was Licensee\342\200\231s Assistant. There were four daycare children present during today\342\200\231s inspection. Licensee states that there are currently 10 children enrolled. The children's roster was reviewed and is current. Per licensee, the facility\342\200\231s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7am-5pm. Emergency Disaster Plan, License, and Parents\342\200\231 Rights were posted at the time of inspection. Disaster drill log was also available during today\342\200\231s inspection, last disaster drill conducted on 07/25/25. LPA advised disaster drill is be conducted every six months. LIC 126 was provided.
This is a one-story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, daycare room, living room, dining room, kitchen, garage, front yard, back yard enclosed, and side yard is separated by a chain-link fence from the back yard and a cover patio/Atrium area that is located in the front of the house and has a locked door. Areas used by children were inspected include: Living room, daycare room, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, backyard.
Per Licensee areas off limits include:
bathroom inside of master bedroom, side yard, garage, front yard, and enclosed patio/Atrium in the front area. These are kept off-limits and need to be made inaccessible during operating hours. Per licensee, off limit areas are also locked during operating hours, LPA observed doors to be locked.
All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home.

LPA observed age-appropriate toys, free of loose and sharp parts. LPA observed electrical cover outlets all through the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. The Licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The Licensee does understand that poison must be locked. Personal Rights of children were observed by LPA at time of inspection. Per licensee, they provide PM snacks for children in care. Sick/isolation area is located in bedroom #1. If the children were to become ill they wait on the bed for parents to pick them up.
Per licensee, the children will have access to backyard area. LPA observed two pets at time of inspection. The pets are kept in the side yard/run area on the side of the house during operating hours. Licensee states the children do not have access to pets. LPA observed backyard has grass and adequate perimeter fencing through-out the yard. Back yard has bikes, play structure and children\342\200\231s toys. LPA advised Licensee that outdoor supervision is required at all times. LPA observed age-appropriate toys free of loose and sharp parts available for the children in the backyard and all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained.
Per Licensee, there are no weapons, firearms in the home and there are no bodies of water around the premises. LPA did not observe any bodies of water around the premises or firearms/weapons at time of inspection.
The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are in operable condition. Per Licensee, First Aid kit is kept in the child care room, LPA observed First Aid kit and was inventoried for necessary supplies. The Licensee has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles was readily available during today\342\200\231s inspection. The Licensee has also taken the Mandated Reporter Training

\342\200\224Children records and required licensing forms were discussed as well as mandated child abuse reporting and criminal record clearance requirement.

Licensee cares for children 24 months and younger, and safe sleep was discussed and LPA advised of PIN 20-24 CCP Safe Sleep and provided Safe Sleep documentation. LPA observed the 15-minute safe sleep log for children under 24 months and discussed Individualized Infant Safe Sleep Plan for children under 12 months.
The following were discussed:
Rooms that are off-limits need to be made inaccessible during operating hours. NO smoking, NO infant walkers, NO Johnny jumpers, NO saucer chairs, NO incline sleepers and any other item that falls into that category are permitted in the facility. Effective January 1, 2010, licensees of family childcare homes are required to ensure that at least one staff member with current training in pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR is on site at all times when children are present.
LPA reviewed and issued the LIC 311D - Forms/Records to Keep in Your Family Child Care Home. Mandatory Forms for the children\342\200\231s files and staff files, requirements for fire drills, earthquake drills and documentation were discussed. Role and responsibilities of being a Mandated Reporter were reviewed. The Licensee was advised how to access forms and Regulations online at
www.ccld.ca.gov
. Licensee was made aware that it is his/her responsibility to know the regulations as well as anyone who assists in providing care.

Licensee (or facility representative) was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at

as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

MyChildCarePlan.org \342\200\223 Centers and Family Child Care Homes Licensee [or facility representative] was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
During the exit interview, Licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
The facility was found in compliance per Title 22 regulations, there will be no deficiencies cited today 07/25/25
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
