What the inspector wrote

On May 22, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. LPA Peter Bishop conducted an unannounced Case Management Incident visit to Cerritos College Child Development Center. On May 20, 2026 the facility made a self-reported incident report to the Childcare Licensing Department regarding a child that fell and bumped the left side of his forehead on the handrail and medical attention was needed. Upon arrival, LPA Bishop met with Director - Elisa Coburn. LPA toured the outside play are where the incident took place and there were not any unsafe items or uncommon hazards observed. There were 59 children present at the time of this visit. LPA Bishop interviewed the Teacher’s that were present when the incident occurred. The Teacher indicated that she did not see him fall but did see once the child hit the ground. During the interview the Teacher confirmed that paper towels and gauze were applied and she also indicated the child was calm throughout the process. LPA Bishop viewed documents from the hospital that stated skin glue was used to close the wound. Director – Elisa Coburn stated that the child returned to school today 05/22/2026. Staff indicated that they are monitoring the child through the healing process. LPA was able to observe the child sleeping. No deficiencies are being cited at this time. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director – Elisa Coburn. Page 1 of 1
