Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

An unannounced Required Annual site inspection was conducted by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA)Bardo Baluyot who met with Site Director Rita Hidalgo. LPA conducted a tour of the facility. Upon arrival LPA conducted a COVID risk self-assessment and observed 7 children with 2 staff. The program operates from 7:30AM to 4:30PM. The site is located on the grounds of Rotary Park. LPA inspected the facility indoors and outdoors. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. There are cubbies and hooks for children's belongings. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. Surfaces were observed to be clean and hazard free. There is drinking water available in form of water jugs and disposable cups. Water fountains attached to children's sinks are still made inaccessible as a precaution for COVID. First aid and emergency supplies were observed in the classroom. The carbon monoxide was tested and found to be operational. Snack/lunch menus were observed to be posted and reviewed. Food and snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. The kitchenette was inspected and food preparation areas were observed to be clean and pest free. Outdoor area and equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. Currently the shaded area is off-limits as the grass is being re-seeded. There are alternative shaded rest areas that can be used on the playground or use of the park is an option. Play area was inspected for hazards and and no bodies of water were observed. Drinking water is available in form of water jug and disposable cups. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. No children or staff files were reviewed during today's visit. Files are stored at the Options Early Learning Center\342\200\231s main office located at 885 S.
