Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Dayna Chambers conducted an unannounced annual inspection on January 4, 2023 at: 8:45AM. LPA met with Erika Meza, Director, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. This is a preschool program which consists of 4 classrooms; RM#1-Wiggleworm, RM#2-Busybees, RM#3-Dragonflies, RM#4 \342\200\223 Shining Stars. Facility operation hours are Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 6:00pm. All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. Upon arrival, the following staff were present during this inspection: RM#1-Wiggleworms with #Staff 1 and 8 preschoolers, RM#2-Busybees with Staff #2 \342\200\223 5 preschoolers, RM#3-Dragonflies with Staff #3 and 8 preschoolers, and RM#4 \342\200\223 Shining Stars with Staff#4 and 7 preschoolers. The facility was observed to be within the license capacity and limitations. The following was observed during the tour of the facility: Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and in good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. Center provides cleaning laundry as needed. Napping equipment (mats) were observed in a separate storage room. Per director, the isolation area is in the office. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair in all restrooms. General sanitation was observed. Availability of indoor drinking water was observed in classrooms. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were inaccessible to children. Director states that poisons are locked in the shed outside near playground. Carbon monoxide detectors were observed and are operable. All kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas are kept clean and are free of litter, rubbish, rodents, and/or any other vermin. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids or solid waste bags shall be discarded immediately after each meal. Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Availability of outdoor drinking water was observed via water bottles and cups, also children bring their own water bottles. All floors were observed to be clean and safe. All materials accessible to children were observed to be toxic-free There are no firearms stored on the premises. There are no pools or bodies of water at the facility. All individuals present have obtained a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption. There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection. Children\342\200\231s Records were reviewed. (The name, address, and telephone number of child\342\200\231s authorized representative is on file) and medical Assessment.) for completeness; Inspection of required forms was made and documented on the LIC 857. LPA also reviewed staff records. The review of Staff records was documented on the LIC 859. Staff present did have proof of the AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate on file. Staff present did have proof against TB, measles, pertussis, and influenza. All staff have been given on the-job training sanitation principles, housekeeping, including universal health precautions. LPA also issued the Review of Staff records (LIC 859) to the licensee during this inspection. The LIC 857 and the LIC 859 documents the staff and children\342\200\231s files that were reviewed during this inspection. Children's roster was reviewed and is current. Center uses ProCare app for the Sign-In and Sign-Out sheets and were reviewed. Children present were signed in. Disaster drill log was available, last drill was conducted on 12/06/2022. Menus are posted one month in advance where it is visible by the child's authorized representative. Menus for the past 30 days are available upon request. Snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. The facility provides Breakfast, Lunch and PM snack. First Aid supplies were observed in the classrooms, office, and kitchen. According to the Director, medication is only administered to a child when accompanied with a doctor's note and is stored in the office. The facility was observed to be equipped with an isolation area for any child who becomes ill and it is in the office. Medication: This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. There were no deficiencies cited during today\342\200\231s inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
