What the inspector wrote

On 3/11/2026, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ranita Richmond conducted an unannounced 3 year Required visit for the above-named Child Care Center. Center is licensed for 30 children. 22 preschool children, ages 2 years through entry into first grade and 8 toddler children ages 18-36 months. LPA met with teacher Veronica Cobar. LPA Richmond toured the facility indoors and outdoors and observed 10 children in care, being supervised and cared for appropriately by 3 fingerprint cleared staff members. Facility hours of operation are Monday \342\200\223 Friday, 8:30am \342\200\223 5:00pm. Administrator, April Woods (Schafer) arrived at 11:00am. CCC director on file is no longer employed by CCC. The current Administrator has been employed since October 2023. Administrator has not submitted the director packet to the Department. Type B citation cited. See LIC 809D. Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. Facility is currently using online app (Remini). LPA Richmond advised Designee of the importance of sign in/sign out using the full first and last name of the parent/authorized representative and time of checking the child in and out daily. LPA advised the designee of the importance of having a hard copy available for review. There are no swimming pools, ponds, or other bodies of water on the premises . There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. LPA Richmond observed 2 (two) fully charged 2A:10B:C fire extinguishers in the entry way and in the kitchen. LPA Richmond observed working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. Fire alarms are wired to the Pull Fire Alarm system. Fire alarm and smoke detectors were last serviced in January 2026. CCC completed and documented last Emergency Disaster Drill October 2025. page 1 of 3 All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. LPA inspected the classrooms and observed age-appropriate toys, books and furnishings. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. LPA observed a prepping area, with a sink, storage for foods and a refrigerator with a thermometer, foods and toxins or chemicals were stored separately, and LPA did not observe any expired or contaminated foods. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. During walkthrough, LPA requested sleep logs for infant/toddlers up to 24 months of age. Per teacher the logs are in online app. LPA reviewed online app for sleep logs and observed logs only contain starting and ending sleep times. LPA advised that sleep logs must include the following: date, infant name, time of each 15 minute check, and initials of staff conducting the check. Type B citation cited. See LIC 809D. LPA Richmond reviewed 6 children\342\200\231s files and observed files to be in compliance including current contact information for authorized representatives and/or relatives who can assume responsibility for the child, immunization records, and authorization for medical treatment. LPA Richmond reviewed 4 personnel files. LPA reminded Designee that CPR/First Aid is to be EMSA approved and both CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter training are to be renewed every 2 years. LPA observed 2 of 4 files to have completed mandated reporter certification that has expired. Type B citation cited. See LIC 809D. CCC COMPLETED LEAD TESTING October 27, 2022. Administrator provided LPA with a copy of the AB 2370 Water Testing Report for file. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA Richmond reminded Director to access the Community Care Licensing website www.ccld.ca.gov for access to Provider Information Notices (PINs), Quarterly Updates, COVID-19 Information and Resources, Mandated Reporter Training, Safe Sleep in Child Care, Lead Poisoning Facts, Forms and Regulations. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms.
