What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) V. Wheatley conduced an announced inspection and met with the Director Josephine Meade. The purpose of the inspection is to add a toddler option. The director is requesting 18 toddlers. This is not an increase in capacity. LPA toured the facility and observed the children supervised properly. LPA observed 33 children outside playing and observed the staff operating within proper ratios. There are a total of 6 classrooms (three upstairs and three downstairs). The toddler classroom is located downstairs at the front entrance. LPA inspected the classroom and observed the following: cubbies, cots, several toys, trash bin with a lid, first aid kit, and children's restroom. The restroom has two toilets and two sinks. The restroom is operating properly. The parents enter the main gate and must have a code to enter. The parents sign the children in and out at the entrance manually. LPA inspected the kitchen which is clean, orderly and off-limits. The children bring their lunch and two snacks are provided daily. LPA observed an adequate amount of snacks. The snacks are separate from the cleaning supplies. LPA observed the required signs posted: (license, parent's rights poster, snack menu, emergency disaster plan, facility sketch and earthquake checklist. The facility is operating within Title 22 Regulations. LPA did not observe any deficiencies. The toddlers will use the sandbox yard. The outdoor space is large enough to accommodate 18 students. LPA observed a fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide and smoke detector. The director states the El Segundo Fire Department inspected the facility however CCL has not received the required 850. The facility will be licensed for 18 children to accommodate toddler option ages 18 months to 36 months. Exit interview. Report provided to the director.
