What the inspector wrote

On 04/29/2026, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Brittany Lovest and Cristina Castellanos conducted an unannounced case management inspection at Journey of Faith. LPAs were greeted by Facility Director Nancy Kim, who provided a tour of the facility. The facility is requesting a temporary relocation of 3 preschool classrooms . The preschool component serves children ages 2 years to entry into first grade . The facility also has an infant license on site 197407071. LPAs observed the following child and staff ratios during today’s visit: Red Tigers - 11 children with 1 staff member White Tigers-11 children 2 staff member Blue Starfish - 12 children with 1 staff member Red Starfish - 12 children with 1 staff member Purple Starfish- 12 children with 1 staff Green Starfish - 12 children with 1 staff member Green Bumble Bees - 10 children with 1 staff member Yellow Bumble Bees - 11 children with 1 staff member Blue Bumble Bees- 12 children with 1 staff members Tk Turtles- 7 children 1 staff member Tk Owls- 11 children 1 staff member The facility consists of multiple buildings on one lot. The current license includes three classrooms on the north side near Tennyson Ave and six classrooms in the building near Artesia Blvd. There are three additional buildings on campus named Worship Center, Nursery, and Harbor Building . During the walk through, LPAs identified the Harbor Building as the proposed location for the temporary relocation. Upon entering the Harbor Building, LPAs observed children in the three lower level classrooms. Director Nancy Kim stated these children were part of a dropin program operated by the church, not the licensed preschool program. The facility is requesting three classrooms on the second floor of the Harbor Building for temporary relocation during construction. Based on today’s inspection, LPAs are requesting the following: Labeled facility sketch of all licensed buildings, rooms, and outdoor areas. Approved fire clearance for the three requested Harbor Building classrooms. LPAs informed the Director that capacity and application approval are pending measurements and Licensing Program Manager review. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report was discussed with and provided to Director Nancy Kim.
