What the inspector wrote

On 02/22/2022 at 9:05 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Judy Laureano conducted an unannounced Case Management – COVID-19 inspection for the purpose of following up on Unusual Incident Reports (UIR) submitted on to the El Segundo Child Care Regional Office. LPA Laureano met with Principal Christine Morrison who toured LPA through the inside and outside of the facility. LPA observed 66 children in care with 20 staff. According to the UIR, on 01/04/2022- 1 staff member tested positive for COVID-19. According to the UIR, on 01/7/2022 - 1 child was reported as testing positive for COVID-19. According to the UIR, on 01/11/2022 – 3 children were reported as testing positive for COVID-19. According to the UIR, 01/14/2022 – 1 child was sent home with COVID-19 symptoms. According to the UIR, on 01/20/2022- 1 child was reported as testing positive for COVID-19. According to the UIR, 01/22/2022 – 3 children were reported as testing positive for COVID-19. Principal stated all of the children and staff who were reported testing positive for COVID, have all isolated and have since all returned to the facility. LPA observed one child who was named in the UIR, 1/22/2022, experiencing some COVID 19 symptom. Child was cleared by Family Engagement to come back today, 2/22/2022. Site only child that was identified as a close contact that has not yet returned to the site. During inspection, LPA observed children wearing masks while indoors and outdoors. Additional masks available throughout the classrooms, staff wearing masks, soap and paper towels were observed to be available at all handwashing sinks and hand sanitizer available in each room. Principal confirmed facility has tables set up for sign in/ out. LPA Laureano observed sign in/out sheets to have parent/ guardians full signature. Parents use LAUSD Daily pass to access screening questions and generate a QR code to display during morning drop off. LPA Laureano observed COVID-19 signage throughout the facility for mask wearing, washing hands, and stay safe 6 feet apart. At the front entrance LPA Laureano observed signs advising, “If you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Facility communicates with parents through CLASS Dojo and the most updated Guidance was distributed to all parents. Parents are allowed to enter the building after a wellness check has been completed. Parents and visitors are not allowed in the classrooms. LPA Laureano observed facility supply of PPE COVID supplies as gloves, gowns, hand sanitizing wipes, liquid hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, children mask, adult masks, and thermometers. Site uses the website Legacy Replacement Program where Principal is able to order additional PPE supplies. LPA Laureano discussed with Director current COVID-19 resources and guidance. No deficiencies are cited, per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, of the California Code of Regulations. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report (LIC 809) and Notice of Site Visit were provided to Principal Christine Morrison.
