What the inspector wrote

On 10/21/2025 at 10:00 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Crystal Green and Priscilla Ochoa conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Applicant Representative, Ani Nicholas. The facility is currently licensed to care for 96 preschool children from ages 2 to 5 years old in classroom 1, 2, and 3. The Applicant, Los Angeles School District, has requested to increase their licensed capacity to 116 preschool children from ages 2 to 5 years old in classrooms 1, 2, 3, 16, and 17. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 5:30 PM. Present during today\342\200\231s inspection were 77 children with 16 staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPAs informed Ani Nicholas that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPAs continued to tour the facility and measured existing and new indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured 5,234.73 square footage, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 116 Children. LPAs observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/mats, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via filtered water jugs. LPAs observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 5/12/2025 by the LA City Fire Department. LPA observed a total of 21 sinks, 17 toilets, and 7 urinals available for children\342\200\231s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 116 children. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Fencing is made of chain linked and was observed to be at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 9,008.20 square footage, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Shade is provided via fixed shade canopies. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is a climbing structure on the playground for children aged 2 to 5 years which is properly anchored. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climbers provided by outdoor rubber mats. Drinking water is available via filter water jugs. LPAs observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Applicant Representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). A license for 116 preschool children in classrooms 1, 2, 3, 16, and 17 will be granted upon a final file review. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Applicant Representative, Ani Nicholas.
