What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Seung Lee conducted an unannounced required inspection. LPA met with licensees, Lin Hu, and David Chu who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. There were 7 children present and two additional assistants. This is a two story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, kitchenette , garage, frontyard and outdoor deck in back (fenced). Individuals residing in the home are two licensees. Areas accessible to children were inspected as follows: First floor with 2 bathrooms, 1 bedroom for napping, living room, and outdoor deck. Per licensee, areas off limits to children include: entire second floor which is barricaded with a kiddie gate, front part of the house which is also barricaded with a half door, and the garage. The entrance to the child care is in the rear area of the home. Days and hours of operation are Monday -Friday 8:00am-6:00pm. Licensee states that there are no weapons or firearms on the premises. LPA did not observe swimming pools or spas on the premises. The backyard is adequately fenced. There are age appropriate toys and equipment on the premises. The smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are present in the facility and operational. Fire extinguisher was missing the proof of service tag. There is a properly secured fish tank outside on the deck. LPA observed Licensee's CPR Card is valid until: 08/2022. Child Care Roster , Disaster Drill Log, and Children's Records were reviewed and found complete. Mandated child abuse certificates are on file. All individual present have finger print clearance. Last disaster drill was conducted on 07/12/2021 per log. Fire extinguisher was observed to have been last serviced on 06/16/2021 per service tag. LPA Lee advised that baby walkers, saucer chairs, bouncers or any similar items are prohibited. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Never-Shake-a-Baby were discussed. LPA Lee reviewed files of children in care during the inspection. All files were observed to be complete with the required forms included. LPA reminded the Licensee that forms and updated can be found on the Department's website: www.ccld.ca.gov . Licensee was advised to follow the latest guidelines from the California Department of Public Health regarding Family Child Care Homes for health and sanitary practices at this time. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The notice of site inspection must remain posted for 30 days during hours of operation. Failure to maintain posting will result in a civil penalty of $100.00 dollars. Exit interview conducted with Licensee David Chu and Lin Hu. Appeal rights discussed and explained.
