On 7/1/25, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Crystal Ali and Ana Rodriguez conducted an unannounced required annual random inspection. The LPAs disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry by the Licensee. The Licensee guided the LPAs on a tour of the home. Upon entry to the facility, the LPAs observe licensee minor grandchildren (2), minor grandchild friend, and licensee mother. The grandchildren (2) and grandchild friend left the facility during LPAs visit. This is a large capacity licensed home. Licensee states she has not had over 8 children in a year. She would like to remain as a large facility. Licensee states that there is only 1 child enrolled at this time. The child is on vacation with family. Licensee's facility child roster is current and maintained up to date. There are no IMS children. The operational childcare hours are Monday through Sunday for 23 hours per day. Staffing Ration and Capacity: This is a two-story family home. There is a living room, dining room (fire place gated), den, kitchen, gym, garage (converted into a room), two bedrooms (downstairs), one office, bathroom (downstairs-half bathroom), daycare room, two bedrooms (upstairs), one bathroom (upstairs), laundry area, front yard, and backyard. The off-limits areas are the upstairs, gym, den, office, and bedroom #2 (mother room). There are bodies of water on premises. LPAs observed a pool and jacuzzi. Per the Licensee, there is no smoking and no weapons on the premises. Physical Plant: The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. The daycare areas (on-limits) are downstairs only; bathroom, bedroom #1 (daycare room), converted bedroom (garage), daycare room, living room, dining room, and kitchen. Licensee does provide food for the children (breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner). Licensee is not part of food program. The children can bring packed lunches. Those lunchboxes that don\342\200\231t have ice packs are placed in the refrigerator for the children in care. Licensee provides food and water for the children. There are no window cords in the daycare area. There are age-appropriate toys and equipment on the premises. Napping: Children are provided napping when needed. Licensee provides napping materials, beds and blankets. LPAs observed bedroom #1 to be the daycare room for napping/sleeping. LPAs observed one bunkbed (3 tiered), 1 crib, and 1 dresser. Napping materials are cleaned weekly. Transportation: The licensee does provide transportation. LPAs verified that drivers licenses and car registration is valid. Licensee states her car insurance is current. Kitchen: Knives were observed locked up in the pantry closet that is located in the converted room to the right of kitchen exit, inaccessible to children. Medication is kept in license bedroom, inaccessible to children by safety gate. Licensee reports that there are no children on medication. Cleaning supplies and chemicals are kept in the under the sink. LPAs observed that the cabinet under the sink to have old safety latches. Licensee states she will place new safety latches on the cabinets. Licensee states there are no children with allergies at this time. Fire Extinguisher: The required fire extinguisher (2A10BC) is reading in green and in located closet in kitchen. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were found to be in compliance per Fire Marshall Standards. Licensee states the fire marshal comes every year, she does not recall the date of their last inspection. Fire and Disaster drills are conducted at least every six-months, last drills were recorded in 1/3/25 for Earthquake/Disaster and Fire Drill. The First Aid kit included a temperature thermometer, tweezer, scissors, gauzes, and cleansing pads/solution was observed to be complete and inaccessible to children kept in closet in kitchen. Bathroom: The daycare bathroom is located next to front door in the hallway first door on right. It has 1 sink and 1 toilet. Bathroom is clean and in good repair. Outdoor Space Activity: The outdoor area is the backyard and front yard. LPAs observed a pool and jacuzzi operational. LPAs observed the required safety devices (5ft self latching fence, water alarm, buoy, and hook). LPAs observed pool equipment is gated, inaccessible to children. LPAs observed three bbq pits (one with cover, one does not require cover since not propane, and other is stationed in outdoor kitchen area with the propane locked up in cabinet. LPAs observed several play equipment\342\200\231s for younger children. The back yard is free of broken toys/furniture & equipment, and other sharp items. Records/Documentation: LPAs reviewed with licensee the LIC 126, records to be maintained at the facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and parent board. Licensee was able to provide a valid Pediatric CPR/First Aid training valid until 5/27/27. Child Care Provider Mandated Reporter Training Certificate was not present. Licensee file is complete. Children\342\200\231s records files are complete. Licensee had all the required posted documents: Facility License (LIC 203A, Notice of Parent's Rights Poster (PUB 394), Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC 610A), and Earthquake Preparedness Checklist (LIC 9148). Criminal Record Clearance - Family Child Care Homes Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Safe Sleep - Family Child Care Homes LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. MyChildCarePlan.org \342\200\223 Family Child Care Homes Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Megan\342\200\231s Law - Family Child Care Homes During the exit interview, the Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the home and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Deficiencies Cited: (See LIC 809D). The following one Type B deficiencies are being cited in accordance with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations and/or Health & Safety codes.
