What the inspector wrote

On July 15, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Isabel Ortega met with Licensee to conduct an unannounced case management inspection. The purpose of this case management is to follow up on a self-reported unusual incident report (UIR) submitted to the Department on June 24, 2025. The unusual incident report is regarding a child in care with a high fever. Upon arrival, there were 6 children in care and 3 staff proving care and supervision. During this inspection LPA observed the area where the incident occurred, incident occurred during nap time. In addition, LPA completed a safety inspection of the facility and conducted interviews. According to interviews conducted child#1 become ill and began to have a high fever during care. LPA observed staff to have a valid pediatric CPR/First day certificate. According to facility 911 was contacted and Parents were notified within 5 minutes. Paramedics arrived within 10 minutes and transported child#1 to the hospital. Child #1 returned to care with prescribed medication. According to facility this was the first episode and for the remaining time of care Child #1 no longer experienced any other episodes. Licensee learned how to administer medication although according to licensee she did not feel qualified. Child #1 is doing well according to licensee and quality program, child#1 no longer attends care, parent choose an alternative Provider. A notice of site visit was provided and requested to be posted for 30 days.An exit interview was conducted, a copy of this report, notice of site visit and appeal rights were provided to facility.
