Pools/Spas/Bodies of Water: LPA observed an in-ground swimming pool in back yard (accessed from off-limits living room) surrounded by iron fencing measuring at 5 feet in height. The iron fencing does not obscure the pool from view. The opening of the iron gate swings away from the pool, self-closes, has a self-latching, key-lockable device. LPA observed an additional gate on the far left from exiting the living room back door. Per licensee, far left gate is not used and remains locked. LPA observed far left gate key-locked at time of inspection. Licensee shall ensure that the gate stays closed and locked at all times. Licensee shall ensure that there are no climbing aids around the fence that could be used as a handhold or foothold for children to climb. LPA observed and tested the pool alarm compliant with ASTM International Standard F2208. The pool alarm sounded upon detecting motion in the water. LPA reminded licensee that pool alarm must be turned on and in working order during operating hours. LPA observed a 12-foot rescue pole with a body hook and a life ring approved by the U.S. Coast Guard hung on the right side of the pool. LPA observed the daily swimming pool inspection log documented and posted immediately right of the gate. LPA informed licensee that the swimming pool requirements will remain in place whenever licensed care is provided, and so long as the requirements make the swimming pool inaccessible to children as determined by the licensing department.
