Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Per Licensee, if children are disagreeing the staff will use verbal redirection, talk with children, calm them, and encourage friendship. Per Licensee, children are supervised at all times. Licensee stated that she or staff will immediately stop arguments or physical behavior and talk with the children afterward to resolve issues. Licensee also stated she did not recall any recent incidents involving physical contact between children. Licensee explained that non-emergency situations are handled by speaking with the children first and then informing parents privately at pick-up. Licensee stated that all arguing or fighting is shared with parents. Licensee denied any recent unreported incidents. Per staff interviews, staff denied any physical altercations between children. Staff stated that any child injury, including scratches, insect bites, or other minor issues, is reported to parents at pick-up. Staff reported that they encourage positive behavior by using incentives such as “star of the week” or stickers, and that if children are fighting or bullying, they intervene immediately because such behavior is not allowed. Parents interviewed stated they are pleased with the services provided by the Licensee and did not express any concerns regarding the above-mentioned allegations. Children interviewed stated they enjoy coming to the facility, and their statements were inconsistent with the above-mentioned allegations. LPA conducted observations at the facility and did not observe any verbal or physical altercations between children. LPA observed that children in care were under staff supervision at all times. Based on the investigation conducted, there is insufficient evidence to support the above-mentioned allegations to be true. Therefore, although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore the allegations are Unsubstantiated. The Notice of Site Visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. Exit interview was conducted with Licensee Alla Skrypnyk and Appeals Rights provided. Page 2.
