Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

LPA Maddox met with Owner, Nancy Grunbok and Director, Jolene Hoselton, today for the purpose of conducting a Case Management Inspection regarding a self reported incident that occurred on 1/19/2023. Upon arrival LPA observed 52 children and 8 staff present. LPA interviewed Director and Teacher #1 during this unannounced investigation, child #1 was not present today. On 1/19/2023, at approximately 4:15 pm, Teacher #1 observed Teacher #2 throw a cup of water in the face of child #1 out of frustration due to child #1 crying and screaming and inconsolable. After the incident, Teacher #2 was observed taking child #1 into the bathroom to clean his face, Teacher #1 estimated they were in the bathroom for less that 5 min. Teacher #1 reported the incident to the Director the next day (Director had gone home for the day), the Director instructed teacher to write up a statement regarding what she observed. Director met with Teacher #2 in her office to give her the opportunity to explain what happened, Teacher #2 initially denied anything happened until the Director informed her there was a witness to the incident, Teacher #2 then confessed. Teacher #2 was immediately Suspended, without pay. The Director consulted with the Owner the next Wednesday after the incident (on 1/25/23 once she returned from vacation) and the decision was made to terminate Teacher #2 for violating the personal rights of child #1. Director also contacted the parents of child #1 to inform them of the incident. Based on information provided and interviews conducted, No deficiencies will be sited at this time, LPA has concluded Owner and Director took the necessary steps after they were informed of Teacher #2's actions.
