What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Tatiana Bickham, Melissa Zaragoza, and Laticia Thompson conducted an unannounced Case Management Visit to this facility. While conducting an alternate visit at St. Bernardine of Siena Children's Center on 12/10/25, LPAs observed the following corrections that need to be made. At 11:20 am LPAs observed eight children outside with two soccer coaches and one staff. At 11:28 LPAs observed eight children with two soccer coaches and no staff. Per Director, the teacher went to take a child to the restroom, the Director was outside near the children with the LPAs. LPA reminded the Director children must be supervised by facility staff at all times. At 11:35 am LPAs observed a rose bush on the toddler yard that has thorns. LPA informed the Director the rose bushes either need a fence around them, be removed, or the thorns have to be cut. LPAs informed the Director all trash bins and removable bins need to have tight fitted covers that are kept on and napping equipment consist of cots or floor mats that have at least 3/4" thickness and the center cannot use yoga mats for napping. The following technical violations were observed to be in violation of California code of Regulations, Title 22. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the Director and Appeals Rights provided.
