What the inspector wrote

On 08/17/2022 at 9:00 a.m., Deborah Lowe and Antonio Almanza, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), were at the licensed facility conducting an alternate inspection when the deficiency listed below was observed. Deficiency observed: At 9:12 a.m., LPAs observed the facility sketch did not match the facility lay out. According to the facility sketch the Infant Sleeping room is the room located on the left-hand side of the main entrance to the building. According to the Administrator, the Infant sleeping room has been used as a storage room since the beginning of Covid-19 (March 2020), but does not know the specific date. The Administrator is reporting that they are not aware of CCLD being notified of the change. The facility is using four portable cribs with wheels during the evening and night programs. The facility places the cribs in front of the exit door, blocking the exit to the playground. Measurements were conducted of the infant classroom and the following measurements were taken. The overall measurements of the infant room are 659.74 square feet, incombered space is 35.20 square feet, which equals to 624.54 feet of indoor activity space. Currently the facility is licensed for 18 infants. The area used for the cribs in the infant room measure 108.70 square feet. When removing the designated crib area from the indoor activity space, the activity space in the room only allows for 14 infants. These measurements were based on the area that the Administrator is reporting as the space used for the cribs. During today’s visit One Type A violation is being issued under Title 22 Regulations, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations: 101438.3 Indoor Activity Space for Infants (c) The calculation of indoor activity space for infants shall not include space designated and used for cribs. This separation shall be accomplished as specified in (b) above. *** A copy of this report must be provided to the authorized representatives of all currently enrolled children and any newly enrolled child for the following 12 months. The ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT OF LICENSING REPORTS (LIC9224) shall be signed and kept in each of the children’s records. The report shall be provided no later than the next business day or the next day the child is in care. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. A copy of this Report (809 & 809Ds), Notice of Site Visit, and Appeal Rights were explained and provided to the Assistant Director Jacqueline Rodriguez (Quiroa) and Administrator Gabrielle Hovey.
